Nutrition and Healthy Eating
World4kids started a process reviewing our menus across all OSHC programs. We received information and advice from the Department of Education and Training and Nutrition Australia. It caused a huge swing in what we do and how we do it. Full cream milk was replaced with light milk. White bread was replaced with wholemeal bread. Even jams were replaced with jams made from 75% fruit jams, lowering the sugar content. And Nutritional Standards were brought in to help us provide better food and nutrition for the children in our care.
Our Reviewed menus were then submitted to Nutrition Australia to seek their approval and feedback. With the increase of Obesity and diabetes in our community we want to do our bit to assist parent by providing healthy, nutritious breakfast and afternoon snack options for the families attending our program.
We spent a long time collecting and reading through hints, tips and guides work out our menus and food for the children. We have added them so that you can read through and access this great resource yourself. It may even make prepping the school lunches easier.
